Memorial Day

May God have all of our fallen comrades at his side, and may He and they be watching over, and comforting the families and friends left behind.  Yes, dear friends, "SOME GAVE ALL", and it is to them specifically that today is set aside to honor.  Please, if nothing else, stop what you are doing at 11:00 and bow your head and think of our fallen brothers and sisters.  Of course, I would hope for much more, but at a minimum a few moments.  It won't kill you!

Unless you are a hermit living in a cave at the top of a mountain, you should run into many veterans today.  They'll be the ones doing Memorial services at Memorial sites and cemeteries all across the country.  Or they will be marching in parades.  Maybe they'll just be watching the goings-on.  Please take a minute to thank them for their service.  Buy a coffee or two if you can.  Memorial Day isn't really for the living, that is what Veterans Day in November is for.  BUT, any veteran, but for the grace of God, ran the chance of "giving all."   So in a way, it is for all vets.

My own schedule for today runs from 7:30 to somewhere around 1:00.  We here in Berlin won't be having a parade, but we will be traveling around the area visiting memorials and cemeteries,  about 14 total stops.  Each service includes placing a wreath, a prayer, playing of taps on the bugle, and of course the gun salute.  A quick light lunch at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall will finish the day off.

To any veterans or family members of veterans who may read this, please accept my most heartfelt THANK YOU for your service.  And remember that if we ever shall meet, I am good for that coffee (or beer).

Absolutely!

Veterans who are living get scant attention from any who are not veterans.

Good thoughts as usual, AA.

The best -- really the ONLY proper way -- to thank those who laid down their lives for us would be to act in such a manner as to guarantee that their sacrifices were not made in vain.

Sadly, I see little evidence that the Western Powers are doing any such thing. We seem, instead, to be very busy throwing away with both hands the advantages we once had -- for which countless brave men valiantly fought and died -- to feed The Bonfire of the Vanities piled up by Marxist-Progressives lo these many years.

TRAGIC!
