AA, I remember that when I was in SEA my mother sent me a blank piece of paper and an envelope. She was mad that I hadn't written home enough. I got the message, since we were allowed to write home for free. I was an asshole. I wrote more often after that. Mothers, you gotta love them.
MK, Thank you. I just hope that people will spread the word. This song says it better than I ever could, our troops need to hear from friends, relatives, and even people they don't know. You can't believe how much it means to them.
L&OTeacher, you're right, that's the flip side. Family, but especially mothers and other immediate family need to hear from their troops. I did the same as you. My brother was the one who let me know that a letter every week or two was NOT enough! After that, even the girl friend didn't get as many letters as Mom. The girl friend ended up sending a dear John later anyway. Good riddance. She was in college and became a war protester.
