AH, WHAT"S ANOTHER TRILLION?

It won't be much longer and we will see the National Debt hit the $17 Trillion mark.  Here's a link to a debt clock you may find interesting.  It has a lot of other figures on it also.  As an example, the total debt for all 57 er 50 states is only a bit under $1.2 Trillion.  The total debt of ALL the cities and towns in the country is only a bit over $1.7 Trillion.

Yes folks, the National Debt is closing in on $17 TRILLION!  Hell, it's just money, right?  Why should an old Geezer like me even give a shit?  After all, I won't live long enough to pay it off.  Neither will my kids, or their kids, or their kids, or their kids.  Well, you get my drift.

I sure wish we had just the interest on that debt load to play with.  Imagine all the good things this country could do with THAT kind of cash.  Cash that right now is going, in a huge way, to people that don't like us very much.  People like the oil cartels, China, being the international police force, etc.  I'd much rather see some go towards doing what we are supposed to do.  Use some for our military.  Put some into education.  Maybe even actually fix some bridges and roads instead of the "shovel ready" projects that never did get done, but that's the subject for a separate blog post.

I have to apologize for the small unreadable picture at the top of this post.  If you click it though, it will get big enough to read.  Notice how from 1940 until 1980, a forty year span, the debt stayed very low.  Then compare that to the 1980 thru 2010 period, just 30 years, and see the STEEP slope of that time period.  I wouldn't want to ski down THAT mountain!!!

A couple more numbers from that debt clock, the "OFFICIAL" unemployment number, 11,261,946, and the "ACTUAL" unemployment number, 21,232,905.  Funny they never give out the "ACTUAL" number, isn't it?  NO!!!  No, it is NOT funny!  Not 1 bit funny!  Ah well, a topic for another blog post I guess.  What are your thoughts?  Should we worry about a few Trillion bucks worth of debt, or am I making a mountain out of a HUGE MOUNTAIN?

The debt clock indicates the death spiral of the U.S. economy.

Who will escape this death spiral?
